Lamar CISD Schools on Track to Open in Cross Creek West in 2027

A new junior high school and high school are under construction at the north end of Cross Creek West and expected to open to students in August 2027. Also slated to open then is a new middle school located on nearby Twinwood Development properties.

The multi-school complex is under construction off FM 359 and Twinwood Parkway, according to project information from Lamar Consolidated ISD. Construction of the three schools is funded by the district’s bond referendum voters approved in 2022.

Referred to as Middle School No. 8, Junior High School No. 8 and High School No. 8, the campuses follow the August 2025 opening of Haygood Elementary off Fulshear Bend Drive in Cross Creek West, which was also funded by the 2022 bond referendum.

In January, the LCISD Board of Trustees approved a roster of names for upcoming campuses—including the three campuses coming soon in Cross Creek West—with a name tentatively paired with each new campus. Names are subject to change before the campuses open, but the draft proposal shared with board members includes:

• honoring Troy Williams—who spent more than 30 years at LCISD as a teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal—with the high school opening;
• honoring Debbie Urbanski, a 38-year career veteran with LCISD, with the junior high school name;
• and honoring Brenda Dresner—a LCISD graduate, lifelong Fort Bend County resident and educator—with the naming of the middle school.

More than 400 name submissions were received from the community to add to the roster of names, and a public hearing was held in December. The list was then boiled down to six names the board approved in January for upcoming campuses and a district stadium.

Until the new campuses open, young residents of Cross Creek West are zoned to attend Haygood Elementary, Roberts Middle School, Dean Leaman Jr. High and Fulshear High School.
