Introducing Debbie Urbanski Junior High School

Cross Week West’s new junior high school is bringing with it more than just state-of-the-art facilities—it’s bringing a name that carries over three decades of dedication and heart. Say hello to Debbie Urbanski Junior High School!
Named after an educator who has left an undeniable mark on Lamar CISD, the school promises to carry forward a legacy of excellence and passion for education.
For 38 years, Urbanski devoted her career to uplifting students, guiding staff, and shaping campuses into thriving hubs of learning and growth. From academics to arts to athletics, she championed success at every turn. Her impact? Nothing short of extraordinary as the driving force behind the opening of Foster High School and a trusted mentor to professionals across the district.
When the school opens in 2027, it’s not just going to be another building—it’s going to be a community hub designed to set students up for success. Funded through the 2022 bond, students will be treated to state-of-the-art classrooms with smartboards and well-equipped science and computer labs, athletic fields, and spaces for the fine and performing arts.
The district is currently looking for ideas for the school’s mascot and colors. Who knows? Your suggestion could become part of this exciting new chapter!
Cross Creek West parents will be delighted to know that students will be able to walk or bike to school! That’s right, this campus is designed with the community in mind, making the daily routine just a little easier. And with Haygood Elementary already open and Williams High School joining the neighborhood in 2027, our community is shaping up to be a hub for quality education.
We’ll keep you updated as we get closer to hearing the school bell ring. While you are waiting, why not stop by Cross Creek West to discover your dream home. Your kids will thank you for it.
