High School No. 8 Gets a Name

Get ready, Cross Creek West! The new high school taking shape in our community has been officially named Troy Williams High School, and it couldn’t be a more fitting tribute. This name isn’t just a label; it’s a celebration of a man who dedicated more than three decades to inspiring and guiding students in Lamar CISD.

Throughout his career as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal, Troy Williams shaped the lives of countless students across Lamar CISD. Even after retirement, his commitment to education continued through tutoring, volunteering, and mentoring, while remaining an active and familiar presence at school events and athletic programs.

Williams High School will continue Lamar CISD’s tradition of innovative campuses and programs that help students achieve their goals now and in the future.

The new campus will feature cutting-edge science and computer labs, spaces to encourage creativity for artists, actors and musicians, top-notch sports facilities, and a community centered design. The new school was funded by a 2022 bond referendum.

Both the high school and the newly named Debbie Urbanski Junior High School are slated to open in our community in 2027. The district is currently soliciting ideas for the schools’ mascot and colors.

Until the new campuses open, young residents of Cross Creek West are zoned to Haygood Elementary, located onsite, and the nearby campuses of Roberts Middle School, Dean Leaman Jr. High, and Fulshear High School.

We will keep you updated on the progress of our new high school and encourage you to consider making the move to Cross Creek West today.
